How do I apply to work at IGA?

For those wishing to work at IGA, the most common way is to walk right into your store of choice and submit a resume and/or fill out an application. Many stores post job opportunities in the local newspaper or on community boards throughout town. Check your store and community listings for opportunities available.

Why am I having trouble viewing the flyer?

Many computers store web pages on the hard drive to help access web pages more quickly. However, when your browser retrieves a page from its cache instead of the Internet source, the page displayed may not be the most recent version. If an older version of our flyer appears, try refreshing the page. If the problem persists, or you have received an error message, follow your browser’s help menu to clear your computer’s cache.

How can I request donations for community events?

IGA store owners, operators and employees are committed to enhancing the well being of the communities in which they live, work and play. Local store operators are encouraged to work with their local communities and we encourage you to contact your local store owner to discuss possible fundraising opportunities.

Can I buy gift cards?

Gift Cards are available in amounts between $5 and $500, and can be used at any of our banners IGA, Sobeys and Price Chopper across Canada.

Does IGA accept Internet coupons?

We regret that due to the large amount of fraudulent online coupons circulating, IGA only accepts original coupons provided directly from the vendor.

Can I check product availability online?

At this time, customers are unable to check individual store product availability. However, you can access information about our Compliments line of products by visiting our website at There are several reasons why we may not carry a product, including availability from the supplier, seasonality of an item or discontinuing one item to make room for a more popular item.

What is your product return policy?

The full value of a non-perishable product will be refunded within 14 days of purchase when accompanied by a receipt and the product. If the purpose of your return relates to the quality of a national brand item, we suggest you contact the company that manufactured the product directly. Manufacturers are the experts on their own products and welcome customer feedback.

Rain checks are issued for advertised flyer items that are temporarily out of stock.
Rain checks are redeemable within 14 days of the date of issue.

If the scanned price of a non-price ticketed item is higher than the shelf price or any other displayed price, the customer is entitled to receive the first item free, up to a maximum $10 value.

How will IGA handle cash transactions following the Government of Canada's plan to eliminate the penny?

The Government of Canada is phasing out the penny. Starting February 4, 2013, pennies will no longer be distributed to businesses or financial institutions.

In our stores, pennies will continue to be accepted. For cash payments where change is owed, your change will be rounded to the nearest five-cent increment using the following Government of Canada rounding guidelines:

  • Amounts ending in 1 cent and 2 cents are rounded down to the nearest 10 cents.
  • Amounts ending in 3 cents and 4 cents are rounded up to the nearest 5 cents.
  • Amounts ending in 6 cents and 7 cents are rounded down to the nearest 5 cents.
  • Amounts ending in 8 cents and 9 cents are rounded up to the nearest 10 cents.
  • Amounts ending in 0 cent and 5 cents remain unchanged.

Our rounding approach may not be adopted by third party service providers operating within our store environment. Please contact with those providers directly if you have any questions about their rounding policies related to the elimination of the penny.

Electronic transactions such as debit and credit cards don’t need to be rounded, and will not be impacted.
